Hi,

DNNmonitor.com has been down for a while now -- does anyone know of a another resource (free or paid for) that offers the same sort of "keep alive" service?

Thanks.

Jim

Interesting... I'm really surprised no one else uses DNNmonitor or some sort of keep alive service.

Why?

If your site has volume that keeps it alive. If it has no volume it does not really warrant being kept alive.

On IIS8; Preload has the same effect.

Hi Richard,

You ask "why?" -- I guess the follow-up question would be "why" does DNN feel the need to have the Keep Alive page / functionality available with the DNN framework if it is completely un-necessary?

In fact, if a site only has light traffic that would be the exact reason the Keep Alive feature is there. If the site has "decompiled" and the site has a visitor there is a wait of up to 2 minutes. Most visitors will assume the site is down and leave. I would rather the site responds quickly and keep the visitor interested.

Also, hosting providers like Manage.com (formally PowerDNN) provides Keep Alive service to all of their DNN customers. If this wasn't a feature their clients wanted, then why provide it?

Well DNN's original design is many years old. I'm doubt anyone would design a Keep Alive page in now.

If a site has light traffic that is what Preload is for.
