Ok, quick and simple question: How do i add a new (custom) module to a DNN portal ?

Skipping the ascx creation, where exactly do i need to place the created files and what do i need to update in DNN so that it will pick up the new module ?

I've found a tutorial online about the creation of modules, explained about creating ascx and aspx files (i've been developing .NET web apps and web services for an year and a half), however, when it came to implementing the module in DNN, it reffered to using a 3rd party software, Open Smart Modules. How exactly can modules be added manually ? I've added the files inside the DesktopModules directory, but nothing happened.

Thanks in advance.

You can either create a dnn manifest file for your module or manually setup the module using the Module Definitions page accessible via the host menu. The Module Developers Guide in the documents folder of your DNN install may be helfull

Open "Host->Module  Definition" and click on "create new module". Fill the form and you are done.
