As always, we'll start this hangout with a little DNN news and interview our guest, which is Daniel Mettler this month. Daniel is coming to us out of Switzerland and is the founder of one of the more active DNN businesses around, 2sic. They are the bright minds behind the popular extension known as 2 Sexy Content. Daniel is a very interesting person. You won't want to miss this interview!
DNN & 2sxc: Beautiful Content and Apps Perfectly Customized to Your Design
2sxc is all about great looking, responsive content - which can be edited by users with no HTML know-how. So while DNN takes care of the page-layout, 2sxc takes care of the content-layout and customizing the output of Apps to your unique design.
In this session we'll show you
- Why every (good looking) web site needs 2sxc
- live examples and how easy it is for a non-techie to edit content
- how 2sxc separates content, design and application logic
- how it keeps design and logic open-source (allowing easy modifications)
- how to create your own custom content-template adapted to your design
- how to customize an App to fit your needs - with field and layout changes
The session is for result-, content- and design-focused people. It won't go deep into programming, since that will not necessary any more for most great looking web sites.
About Daniel Mettler:
Daniel Mettler learned programming with the bible translation computer of his parents, deep in the jungles of Indonesia. Since he was only 12 years old at that time and the BIOS only had a version of BASICA, that's what got him started.
With 16 he went back to Switzerland and learned German and basic city-survival skills. Equipped with this know-how he founded 2sic internet solutions in 1999 which was focused on web solutions on the Microsoft platform. After a few self-developed CMS's 2sic switched to DNN in 2003 and has been one of the largest partners (17 employees, 700+ projects) in Europe.
