Hi, In an effort to enhance our SEO we switched to 100% https pages. We did this by going to Admin > Site Settings > Advanced Settings > SSL Settings and set the the "SSL Enabled" tick box to yes and the "SSL Enforced" tick box to yes.
We also went to the Admin > Site Settings > Advanced Settings > Advanced URL Settings page and set the "Redirect old URLS to new Friendly URLS" to yes.
My SEO company has a number of issues with the way this is handled by DNN as it is affecting Analytics Tracking of Adwords campaigns.
Quoted from them so as to prevent my mistateing the issue:
The Issues: when the site was migrated to HTTPS, 302 redirects were put into place (which was not part of my suggestion). We need these redirects to be 301 redirects, as a 302 redirect passes no value. In addition, we are rewriting GCLID urls, which is throwing off tracking Google Analytics tracking.
Here is what is happening on the site: Initially, a 302 redirect moves HTTP:// to HTTPS://. Then, a 301 redirect is rewriting the Google GLID properties (the adwords tracking URL) to a clean URL, which removes the ability for Google Analytics to track as paid (either from one of the multiple redirects or the URL reconfiguration). In a nutshell, when someone clicks an ad we have 3 redirects occurring (2 of which we need to fix). AdWords can still catch the correct value due to the Adwords tracking pixel, but Google Analytics converts this data to organic search.
My site is ecommerce and the GCLID code is on a confirm order page.
Can I fix the redirect issue within the app and is my url rewrite issue caused by the Advanced URL Setting tab to Redirct Old URLs.
Thank you in advance,
